Two approaches towards an enantiopure C15-C26 segment of the phorboxazoles starting from the corresponding C20-C26 aldehyde are presented. A variety of functionalized oxazoles have been synthesized via the rhodium(lI) acetate catalyzed cycloaddition of dimethyl diazomalonate to substituted nitriles.
