✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A new family of oxazolines was synthesized in high yields and was characterized by NMR, IR, and MS. Oxazoline–lanthanide complexes, as the novel Lewis acid catalysts, were applied to the asymmetric cyanosilylation of ketones that gave the corresponding cyanohydrin trimethylsilyl ethers in moderate yields and enantioselectivities under mild conditions. ## Abstract Novel chiral Schiff bases were synthesized from (+)‐camphor, and their application to asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of prochiral ketones is described. ## Abstract A series of novel __N__‐squaramidoacid ligands were prepared conveniently. Without converting to corresponding amino alcohols, these ligands could be used in asymmetric borane reduction of prochiral aromatic ketones to give secondary alcohols in good to excellent enantiomeric excesses.
