## Abstract The synthesis of 6‐deoxy‐6–^18^F‐α‐D‐galactopyranose from the 6‐tosyl‐1,2:3,4‐di‐O‐isopropylidene derivative, using tetraethyl‐ammonium fluoride‐^18^F is described. The synthesis requires 4–4 1/2 hours for completion. The radiochemical yield (activity in compound/starting activity. corr
