The reaction of the transient furoisoxazole 4 with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate results in the formation of oxepine $&. The boat-shaped structure of s has been confirmed by X-ray crystallography. The experimental findings are in accord with quantum chemical calculations (AMl, PM3).

Abstract
Aus 3′‐ Amino‐2‐acetonaphthon (7c) erhält man durch Diazotierung und anschließende Umsetzung mit Natriumazid das 3′‐Azido‐2′‐acetonaphthon (9). Daraus läßt sich durch thermische Stickstoffabspaltung ein linear benzanelliertes Anthranil, das 3‐Methylnapth[2,3‐c]‐isoxazol (5) darstellen.
