## Abstract Ausgehend von 5‐(Diazoacetyl)pyrimidin (**7**) wird die Synthese von __N__‐[2‐Hydroxy‐2‐(5‐pyrimidinyl)äthyl]phthalimid (**10**) über die Zwischenstufen **8**→**9** beschrieben. Die direkte reduktive Umwandlung von **7** zum aminoalkohol **5** gelingt nicht.
