β¦ Synopsis
Chromosome translocations involving 8q24, the band to which c-myc has been mapped (Dalla-Favera et a/., 1982). are a uniform finding in Burkitt's lymphoma (Bernheim et a/., 1981). However, in only a minority of the tumors is the rearrangement of the cmyc locus sufficiently close to the gene to be detected with currently available probes (Dalla-Favera et a/., 1983). Approximately 25% of diffuse large-cell lymphomas have also been reported to have translocations involving 8q24 (Mitelman , 1985). but there have been no reports of c-myc rearrangements in this form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. We have examined the structure of the c-myc locus in primary tumor tissue of 10 cases of diffuse large-cell lymphoma. In one patient, Southern blot analysis revealed additional c-myc fragments in the tumor DNA but not in the germ-line DNA. Southern blot analysis using probes from both the heavy-and light-chain immunoglobin loci showed that the myc rearrangement was unlikely to involve the immunoglobulin loci in this patient.

The sequence of the exon I lintron I boundary region of the MYC gene was determined in two diffuse large cell lymphomas (DLCL), one with t(8; 14) (q24q32) and the other with t(8;22) (q24;q I I). Both tumors had multiple mutations in this region. Also, both tumors had mutations in the protein binding
## Abstract The human large Bβcell lymphoma cell line RCβK8 has a rearranged __REL__ locus that is transcribed into a chimeric mRNA, termed __RELβNRG__ (__N__onβ__R__el __G__ene). By analyzing the recently completed human genome sequence, we have found that the normal __REL__ and __NRG__ loci are s
## Abstract Regulation of the rearranged and nonβrearranged cβ__myc__ expression was studied in murine cell hybrids (SBWI and SBWII) between plasmacytoma (S194) and Tβcell lymphoma (BWS147) cells. Expression of the rearranged cβ__myc__ of heterogeneous mRNA sizes (1.8 βΌ 2.4 kb) was markedly downβre
