## Abstract The induction, isolation and some of the properties of serineβrequiring mutants of Chinese hamster ovary cells have been described. These cells promise to be useful in biochemical genetic studies and cancer research.

Abstract
The selection of somatic cell mutants after irradiation of BUdRβlabelled cells is improved with the use of a mercury lamp combined with a plastic sheet which filters the unwanted wave lengths below 303 nm. New somatic cell mutants defective for galactose metabolism or auxotrophe for fetal calf serum were thus isolated.

## Abstract Chinese hamster cells do not grow in medium containing high concentrations of adenosine because pyrimidine biosynthesis is inhibited. Adenosine metabolism was examined in two mutant cell lines isolated on the basis of resistance to adenosine. One line was deficient in adenosine kinase s
Stable mutants of Chinese hamster V79 cells deficient in thymidylate synthetase (TS; E.C. 2.1.1.45) have been selected from cultures grown in medium supplemented with folinic acid, aminopterin, and thymidine (FAT). After chemical mutagenesis, the frequency of colonies resistant to the "FAT" medium i
Mutants temperature-sensitive for growth have been isolated from the established line of Chinese hamster fibroblasts Wg1A. These mutants, together with the ones previously isolated by Roscoe et al. ## Abstract A series of Chinese hamster cell lines were tested and found to be able to proliferate in the absence of added bicarbonate and carbondioxide if hypoxanthine and uridine were present in the medium. Conversely, cells incapable of salvaging one of these precursors, such as hypoxanthineβgua
## Abstract Stable clones selected for resistance to tunicamycin (TM) have been isolated from Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells. The TM^R^ phenotype is stable for more than nine months in the absence of the drug. The morphology of TM^R^ mutant varies from epitheloid to abnormally elongate. The muta
