β¦ Synopsis
The paper is concerned with the resonance behaviour of a non-linear system composed of two parallel shafts coupled together by two mechanisms. It is shown that there is a significant qualitative influence of the motor time constants on the motor torque. At the resonance, two coexisting periodic attractors are found. The existence of catastrophic bifurcations associated with each resonance is demonstrated.

The paper is concerned with torsional buckling of a system composed of two parallel shafts coupled together by two mechanisms. The motion of the system is described by a set of non-linear differential equations with coefficients which are periodic functions of displacements. Fixed points, closed orb
Exact and adiabatic treatments of resonance Raman excitation profiles of vibronically active totally symmetric modes are compared. It is shown that an extension of the adiabatic treatment beyond linear non-Condon terms is necessary for situations where the interacting electronic states have very dif
## Abstract we propose a new scheme for monomode operation of microβring resonators utilizing vertical coupling. The scheme succeeds in suppressing higher order spatial modes by selectively exciting the fundamental mode of the ring. This is achieved by properly varying the material and waveguide pr
If a rotating elastic shaft is unbalanced, flexural and torsional displacements are coupled, even in the linearized equations of motion. The flexural displacements in the rotating frame of reference are subjected to a forcing (external) excitation due to gravity, while the combination of unbalance a
## Abstract The issues related to the simulation of specific absorption rate (SAR) in a high frequency magnetic resonance coil are discussed in this work. Using simulation results, it is shown that the effect of the nonimaging modes on SAR can be substantial and thus must be taken into account. Als
