✦ Synopsis

In the title compound, (C 9 H 8 N) [FeCl 4 ], the tetrachloroferrate(III) anion lies on a mirror plane, whereas the quinolinium cation has inversion symmetry as the result of orientational disorder. In the crystal structure, C-HÁ Á ÁCl interactions between the ions form zigzag ribbons along the b axis. These ribbons are linked via Fe-ClÁ Á Á interactions, forming a three-dimensional network.
