✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A broadband rectangular microstrip antenna utilizing an electromagnetically coupled L‐strip feed is presented. Experimental study shows a 2:1 VSWR bandwidth of ≈ 10% and excellent cross‐polarization performance with a radiation coverage almost as same as that of the rectangular microstrip antenna fed by conventional methods. The variation of bandwidth for different feed parameters is also studied. The proposed antenna is suitable for broadband communications. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A no¨el strip-line feeding technique for a double-layer microstrip antenna is introduced. The proposed feed structure reduces the spurious radiation due to the discontinuities caused by the strip-line feed. The analysis is based on the ca¨ity model, which pro¨ides a simple design procedure.

## Abstract This letter describes a broadband planar antenna embedded in LTE700/GSM handheld terminals. The antenna consists of a T‐shaped strip fed by a 50‐Ω coaxial cable and a shorted strip excited by capacitive coupling. The capacitively coupled shorted strip shows the resonance at the lower fr
