โฆ Synopsis
A tandem reflectron time-of-flight mass spectrometer developed in Glasgow University was used for the investigation of photofragmentation of the molecular ions of the amino acid derivatives: PTH-tryptophan, PTHvaline, and PTH-alanine as well as of cytosine and guanine. The molecular ions were generated by matrix-assisted laser desorptionhonization and the laser photofragmentation of selected ions took place at the turn-around point of ions in the reflectron. The fragmentation mass spectra of the molecular ions of these amino acid derivatives have been observed and possible fragmentation pathways are discussed.

A tandem time-of-flight mass spectrometer was developed to be used for the study of collision-induced dissociation (CID) products of peptides and small proteins. The instrument incorporates two single-stage reflectrons, the first to energy focus the precursor ions to be fragmented and the second to
In this work a capillary high-performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry system has been developed in a quadrupole ion trap/reflectron time-of-flight mass spectrometer. The broadband excitation for isolating a precursor ion is achieved by generating the stored waveform inverse Fourie
A time-of-flight mass spectrometer with an electrostatic mirror was used to probe the composition and structure of polyatomic secondary ions via their metastable dissociation following the impact of MeV energy primary ions. The experimental approach combines event-by-event bombardment and detection
