A few types of harmful parasites can be present in meat and meat products, Trichinella spiralis, Taenia saginata, Taenia solium and sareocysts are mentioned in the Meat inspection regulations of the Netherlands. Toxoplasma gondii, however, is not mentioned, although it can cause disease.
