We have found a new low-lying CT triplet excitation wirh nn\* character in very thoroughly purified crystals of the i : 1 ## CT comples of anthracene/TCNB. This contention is supported by the results of time-resolved and steady-srare ODMR esperiments.

✦ Synopsis
The optical emission of the CT complex anthracenels-tetracyanoben,ene (A/TCNB) was investkated between 1.2 K and 300 K. Delayed fluorescence was observed in the whole temperature range. provin, 0 the existence of mobile triplet e\crtons even at 1.2 K. Prompt and delayed fluorescence show a remarkable blue-shift with decreasing temperature of 2 100 cm-' , which can be explained by reabsorption_ The phosphorescence observable below 40 K is due to at least six different kinds of traps and the energy of emission is not temperature dependent_ The CT triplet band phosphorescence could not be detected in emission, but its position was determined by excitation spectroscopy to be 15371 cm-'.
