✦ Synopsis
Barium hexaferrite, (\mathrm{BaFe}{12} \mathrm{O}{19}), was prepared by a new method which consists in reacting boron oxide. (\mathrm{B}{2} \mathrm{O}{3}), on barium monoferrite, (\mathrm{BaFe}{2} \mathrm{O}{4}). (\mathrm{BaFe}{2} \mathrm{O}{4}) was synthesized according to three procedures; ceramic, nitrate, and coprecipitation. Barium ferrite is recovered by dissolving the formed barium borate, (\mathrm{BaB}{2} \mathrm{O}{4}). This method is available for (\mathrm{Co}) - and Ti-doped hexaferrite suitable for magnetic recording. O 1993 Acadenic Press. Inc.
