✦ Synopsis

The mass spectral fragmentations of multiflorine, 13a-hydroxymultiflorine, 5dehydromultiflorine, 5-dehydro-13ahydroxymultiflorine, 5dehydro-11,12-secomultiflorine and 11,12-seco-12didehydromultiflorine were investigated. Fragmentation pathways, the elucidation of which was assisted by accurate mass measurements and metastable transitions, are proposed. These results create a reliable basis for distinguishing the above-mentioned from isomeric (previously reported) quinolizidine alkaloids.

gated compounds have two elemental compositions (Table ).
