✦ Synopsis
The MCD (magnetic circular dichroism) of CHsI, CHsBr and CHaCl has been studied in the spectral region of the n --L of continuum (3500-1700 4). The MC0 spectrum ofCH3I
makes it possib!e to resoive the three excited states contributing to the continuum. The peak energies and the oscillator strengths of the components are obteined.

A simple multistate theory of magnetic vibrational circular dichroism (MVCD) in molecules of D, and D, symmetry is presented and used to interpret the MVCD spectrum for the 1346 cm-' fundamental in coppertetraphenylporphyrins. The magnetic circular dichroism spectrum of the 'Z + + 'A transition in OCS contains two signals of opposite sign. The spectrum is interpreted as resulting from two B terms associated with the 'A' and 'A" states that originate from the 'A state, which undergoes a change in its geometry to a bent con
When azulene is included in the cavïty of ficyclodextrin @CDx), ìnduced circulu dichroïsm (CD) bands are observed in the corresponding absorption bands of azulene. On the basis of the theoretical conclusions for @-CDx complexes with naphthalene derfvatïves of Harata and Uedaim, it is concluded from
The absorption and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectra of CGO isolated in Ar matrices have been measured in the visible and near-ultraviolet. The first two allowed bands (at 2326 and z 253 nm) show substantial negative .d terms. Sharp, weak vibronic structure showing clear evidence.of Jahn-Tel
