Rhabdomyosarcoma is the most caixnon primary malignant orbital tumor in infants and children (1 -3). The increasing recognition of this tumor is probably due to an actual increase in incidence (2), as well as to increased diagnostic acumen of ophthalmic surgeons and opthalmic pathologists. We are r

Abstract
We report the smallest infant (4.5 kg) to receive leukapheresis as an immediate treatment for Infantile Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Leukodepletion helps prevent the risks of hyperviscosity and cerebrovascular and pulmonary leukostasis. In addition, it is a desirable precursor to chemotherapy to potentially reduce metabolic and renal complications associated with rapid cell lysis. Because of this infant's small size, she presented us with multiple concerns, including hypocalcemia from citrate anticoagulation, extracorporeal volume and fluid balance, inlet flow rates. and establishment of adequate interface. Our positive experience in performing this procedure suggests that cytapheresis is a feasible treatment even for very young infants. J. Clin. Apheresis. 16:31β32, 2001. Β© 2001 WileyβLiss, Inc.

A 1 O-week-old girl without Down syndrome developed an acute megakaryoblastic leukemia (AMKL). Bone marrow aspirates and biopsy showed megakaryoblastic infiltration with myelofibrosis. The diagnosis was made based on the findings that the positive reactions of leukemic cells to platelet peroxidase a
A nested case control study was carried out to investigate the association between treatment of patients with Hodgkin's disease (HD) and the risk of developing acute non-lymphocytic leukemia (ANLL). This report describes a 10-year-old white boy who presented with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) and several collapsed thoracolumbar vertebrae in 1965. His ALL was successfully treated, and he has been disease-free for over 10 years. He has now completely remodeled all of the collapsed vertebrae.
