✦ Synopsis
The kinetics of the reactions CH,O + CI + H,CO + HCI ( 1 ) and CH,O + ClO -+ H,CO + HOCl ( 2 ) have been studied using the discharge-flow techniques CH,O was monitored by laser-induced fluorescence, whereas mass spectrometry was used for the detection or titration of other species. The rate constants obtained at 298 K are hl = (1.9 5 0.4) X lo-" cm3 molecule-' s-l and h, = ( 2 . 3 2 0 3) X lo-" cm3 molecule-' s-I These data are useful to interpret the results of the studies of the reactions of CH,O, with C1 and CIO which. at least partly. produce CH,O radicals. 0 1996 John Wiley &Sons. The kinetics and mechanism of the gas-phase reaction of CI atoms with CH,CO have been studied with a fTIR spectrometer/smog chamber apparatus. Using relative rate methods the rate of reaction of CI atoms with ketene was found to be independent of total pressure over the range 1-700 torr of air dilue
The kinetics of the reactions of Cl atoms with CH 3 ONO and CH 3 ONO 2 have been studied using relative rate techniques. In 700 Torr of nitrogen diluent at 295 is in good agreement with the literature data. The result for k(Cl ϩ CH 3 ONO) is a factor of 4.5 lower than that reported previously. It s
## Abstract Pulse radiolysis techniques were used to measure the gas phase UV absorption spectra of the title peroxy radicals over the range 215–340 nm. By scaling to σ(CH~3~O~2~)~240 nm~ = (4.24 ± 0.27) × 10^−18^, the following absorption cross sections were determined: σ(HO~2~)~240 nm~ = 1.29 ± 0
The reaction I 0 + CH,SCH, + products (3) was studied at room temperature and near 1 Torr pressure of He, using the discharge flow mass spectrometric technique. The rate constant was found to be k3 = (1.5 \* 0.5) x cm3 molecule-' s-'. CH3S(0)CH3 was detected as a product suggesting the following cha
