✦ Synopsis

A discharge flow reactor coupled to a laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) detector and a mass spectrometer was used to study the kinetics of the reactions CH O ϩ Br : 3 (1) and (2). From the kinetic analysis of CH 3 O by LIF in the products CH O ϩ BrO : products 3 presence of an excess of Br or BrO, the following rate constants were obtained at and mole-Ϫ11 3 Ϫ1 Ϫ1 Ϫ11 3 298 K: k ϭ (7.0 Ϯ 0.4) ϫ 10 cm molecule s k ϭ (3.8 Ϯ 0.4) ϫ 10 cm 1 2

The data obtained are useful for the interpretation of other laboratory studies of Ϫ1 Ϫ1 cule s . the reactions of CH 3 O 2 with Br and BrO.
