The kinetics of the permanganate-hypophosphite redox reaction has been studied over a wide range of pH by using a stopped-flow technique. It has been found that the reaction leads to the formation of phosphite and orthophosphate, and that the molar ratio of the final products depends on pH. The prop
## Abstract The kinetics of the permanganateβsulfite redox reaction has been studied in the alkaline medium using a stoppedβflow technique. In the pH range 10 to 12 the reaction was found to obey the rate expression: βΒ½__d__[MnO~4~^β^]/__dt__ = (__k__~1~ + __k__~2~[OH^β^]) [MnO~4~^β^] [SO~3~^2β^].
The kinetics of the oxidation of 1,10-phenanthroline (1,10-phen) by permanganate were investigated in alkaline medium. A first-order, fractional-order and zero-order dependence of the rate each in [MnO 4 Γ ], [1,10-phen] and [OH Γ ], respectively, was observed. The data suggest that the oxidation pr
