The kinetics of the permanganate-hypophosphite redox reaction has been studied over a wide range of pH by using a stopped-flow technique. It has been found that the reaction leads to the formation of phosphite and orthophosphate, and that the molar ratio of the final products depends on pH. The prop

Abstract
The kinetics of the permanganate‐sulfite redox reaction has been studied in the alkaline medium using a stopped‐flow technique. In the pH range 10 to 12 the reaction was found to obey the rate expression: −½__d__[MnO~4~^−^]/dt = (k~1~ + k~2~[OH^−^]) [MnO~4~^−^] [SO~3~^2−^]. Mechanisms for the two paths involving the formation of a (O~3~MnOSO~3~)^3−^ complex prior to the rate‐determining step are consistent with the data. © John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

## Abstract The kinetics and mechanism of permanganate ion oxidation of acetylacetone (Acac) was studied in acidic and alkaline media. The rate constants for keto, enol, and enolate anions were determined and discussed. Delocalization of the π‐electrons of the double bond by conjugation results in
The kinetic study of the oxidation of L-a-amino-n-butyric acid by permanganate ions has been carried out in buffered acid medium at pH = 1-3. using a spectrophotometric techriique An auto-catalytic effect has been observed in all cases due to Mn2+ ions formed as a product of the reaction. A first-or
The kinetics of the oxidation of 1,10-phenanthroline (1,10-phen) by permanganate were investigated in alkaline medium. A first-order, fractional-order and zero-order dependence of the rate each in [MnO 4 À ], [1,10-phen] and [OH À ], respectively, was observed. The data suggest that the oxidation pr
The kinetics of permanganate oxidation of L-phenylalanine in acid medium at a constant ionic strength has been investigated spectrophotometrically. An autocatalytic reaction was observed being autocatalyzed by a soluble form of Mn(1V). The reaction appears to involve a parallel consecutive reaction
