## Abstract Pulse radiolysis techniques were used to measure the gas phase UV absorption spectra of the title peroxy radicals over the range 215β340 nm. By scaling to Ο(CH~3~O~2~)~240 nm~ = (4.24 Β± 0.27) Γ 10^β18^, the following absorption cross sections were determined: Ο(HO~2~)~240 nm~ = 1.29 Β± 0

β¦ Synopsis
Electronically excited OH (A 'C l , v=O) products were studied in the 210 to 290 nm photolysis of the reacting system CH, t 02+CH,02. The excitation spectrum is discussed in terms of formation of 0H(A22+, u=O) and OH(X %, u=O) from CH,O, and CH(X ZII) from CH+ Simplified systems of known reactions are capable of simulating the time dependencies of the OH( A %+, v=O+X %, v=O) emission intensities and are hence consistent with the proposed photodissociation processes.

Alkyl and alkylperoxy radicals originating from dimethyl ether have been studied in the gas phase at 296 K. A pulse radiolysis-UV absorption technique was used. Absorption cross-sections were quantified over the wavelength range 220-350 nm. At 230 nm, O'cH3oclJ2 = (4.2 + 0.5)Γ 10 -18 cm 2 molecule-l
CH,CHOH radicals have been studied using a pulse radiolysis/kinetic absorption technique. The UV spectrum of this species has been measured at wavelengths between 230 and 300 nm with a maximum absorption cross-section of 3.6 x lo-" cm2 molecule-' at 238 nm. Kinetic studies at 300 K yielded rate cons
