✦ Synopsis
Tunable svnchrotron radiation has been used to excite the ion-pair states of ICI and to study their reactions with Xe. Strong _,~~.~~~_.~~~~ ~~ _~~ ~~~ fluorescence from both XeCI( B 'Z & and XeI( B 'Z I/Z) has been observed and their excitation functions are reported.

The state-selective energy transfer from two-photon excited Xe(6p) to Hz0 and the subsequent reaction has been studied by measurement of emission spectra of OH(A\*Z' +X \*II). Electronic relaxation rate constants for specific rotational levels of CH (A 'A and B \*Z-) have been measured. In contrast to similar measurements made earlier for other hydrides, the results obtained in the present work show an increase in the quenching efficiency upon rotational excitation. The e
