Reaction of a mixture of ethanolamine and boric acid with reducing sugars gave intense fluorescence. Application of this reaction to the postcolumn derivatization in high-performance liquid chromatography provided a rapid, sensitive, and simple detection and determination of carbohydrates under a mi

4 Conclusion
Semi-microbore columns can be used with modified commercial refractive index detectors to give a level of performance comparable to that of analytical LC columns linked to conventional R1 detectors. For efficient operation at the small-bore scale, extra-column dispersion must be reduced to a minimum. However, provided that narrow-bore linking tubing is employed, semi-microbore system performance is not critically dependent on linking tube 1ength.Circulating watertemperature control is not essential when using 2 mm columns with the mobile phase and flow rate stated in this note.

A highly sensitive and specific assay method for cystamine using high-performance liquid chromatography has been developed. The method is based on postcolumn derivatization of cystamine with o-phtalaldehyde in the presence of 2-mercaptoethanol and sodium hypochlorite. The separation of cystamine was
