Abstract
The recombination of bromine atoms at room temperature has been studied by flash photolysis in the range of 1β100 atm of the inert diluent He, leading to a value for the thirdβorder rate constant of (1.5 Β± 0.2) Γ 10^15^ cm^6^/mol^2^.sec. In the presence of NO the recombination is considerably accelerated. The falloff curve of the recombination Br + NO (+He) β BrNO (+He) was also measured resulting in a value for the limiting lowβpressure rate constant of (3.4 Β± 1.3) Γ 10^15^ cm^6^/mol^2^.sec. In experiments with excess NO, rate constants of (2.2 Β± 1) Γ 10^14^ cm^3^/molΒ·sec for the reaction Br + BrNO β Br~2~ + NO, and (6.1 Β± 0.4) Γ 10^9^ cm^6^/mol^2^.sec for the reaction Br~2~ + 2NO β 2BrNO were obtained.

The recombination of chlorine atoms has been investigated by flash photolysis in the inert gases He, Ne, Ar, Nz, COz, CF4, SiFd, SF6, and C2F6. The pressure dependence of the reaction has been measured between 0.5 and about 100 atm for He, Na, and COZ. Experiments on the NO-catalyzed recombination o
We have studied the recombination of chlorine atoms in the presence of argon over a wide range of ratios [C12]/[Ar]. The recombination of chlorine atoms has not attracted much attention because of detection difficulties, due to the low-absorption cross section of the chlorine molecules and the low d

The Iewmbination of iodine atoms in the presence of NO has been studied by laser flash photolysis in the inert gas He, at pressures between 1 and 200 atm and at temperatures from 320-440 K. The elementary steps of the cornpIes mechanism of the recombination were rebolved. The fall-off curve of the r
The kinetics of the 4-carboxybenzophenone triplet excited state quenching by 2,4,6&methylphenol and the formation of ketyl and phenoxyl radicals in aqueous P-cyclodextrin solutions have been studied using the laser flash technique. One third of the ketyl and the phenoxyl radicals are formed by a fas
