## Abstract The recombination of bromine atoms at room temperature has been studied by flash photolysis in the range of 1–100 atm of the inert diluent He, leading to a value for the third‐order rate constant of (1.5 ± 0.2) × 10^15^ cm^6^/mol^2^.sec. In the presence of NO the recombination is consid

✦ Synopsis
The Iewmbination of iodine atoms in the presence of NO has been studied by laser flash photolysis in the inert gas He, at pressures between 1 and 200 atm and at temperatures from 320-440 K. The elementary steps of the cornpIes mechanism of the recombination were rebolved. The fall-off curve of the reaction I + NO + He + IN0 + He was measured as well as the equilibrium constant for I + NO =+ INO. The bond energy of IN0 is found to be AH: = 23 r 3 kul mol-'.
