## Abstract Chemical and biological fed‐batch stirred tank reactors (FSTRs) are often good candidates for the application of adaptive non‐linear control techniques because in many cases their dynamical models include highly uncertain kinetic parameters. A general unified methodology for the design

✦ Synopsis
Numerical algorithm for the computation of the dependence of periodic solutions on parameters in fed-batch or periodically operating reactors is described. Results for the simulation of a simple model of anaerobic digester and of a first order exothermic reaction are then discussed and various types of m-periodic solutions are presented. The possibility of existence of chaotic solutions is also illustrated.

## Abstract A model was developed to predict the final product distribution in fed‐batch, stirred‐tank reactors carrying out fast, parallel, chemical reactions, and the predictions were compared with experimental data. The following reaction system was chosen: equation image Comparison between th
In this work we analyse the fed-batch operation of a biochemical reactor. In the first part of the work we consider a repeated fed-batch operation. The reaction is assumed to follow Haldane kinetics, i.e. it is characterised by substrate inhibition. The feed rate of the substrate is chosen as the co
