## Abstract A model was developed to predict the final product distribution in fed‐batch, stirred‐tank reactors carrying out fast, parallel, chemical reactions, and the predictions were compared with experimental data. The following reaction system was chosen: equation image Comparison between th

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Chemical and biological fed‐batch stirred tank reactors (FSTRs) are often good candidates for the application of adaptive non‐linear control techniques because in many cases their dynamical models include highly uncertain kinetic parameters. A general unified methodology for the design of adaptive on‐linear controllers for FSTRs is presented. The conditions under which this control approach helps to solve process optimization problems are emphasized.
