✦ Synopsis

Data on bipolar affective disorder in 187 pedigrees from the Collaborative Depression Study were analyzed using logistic models that have been extended to incorporate age of onset information. Logistic regression analysis and segregation analysis revealed evidence for complex familial effects on this disorder.

We have analyzed the GAW10 data from several studies of bipolar affective disorder (BPAD) using the software packages SimIBD and SIMWALK2. SimIBD implements a simulation-based affected-pedigree-member (APM) statistic, called SimAPM, as well as an APM-like statistic, also called SimIBD, that measures

Evidence for a bipolar disorder (BPD) susceptibility locus on chromosome 22q11 has been provided in several studies. One candidate gene that maps to this region is the G-protein ␣ subunit gene G␣z (GNAZ). We have identified a common silent polymorphism in GNAZ exon 2 by single strand conformation po

Assessing heterogeneity in affected relative pair linkage analysis can help control type I error or identify important subgroups. We develop a method to incorporate covariates into sib-pair analysis, and hence are able to test for covariate effects on allele sharing in sib pairs. We propose a way of

This study examines G-olf, as a possible candidate gene for susceptibility to bipolar affective disorder (BPAD) using the Transmission Disequilibrium Test (TDT). G-olf,, which encodes a subunit of a G-protein involved in intracellular signaling, maps within a region of chromosome 18 that has been im
