✦ Synopsis

Excess molar enthalpies and excess molar heat capacities at T = 298.15 K were determined for {xCHCl3

Both experimental properties were represented by a Redlich-Kister type equation. The large negative values of the excess enthalpies and the positive values of the excess heat capacities observed in the ternary composition domain are mainly determined by the specific interaction between chloroform and tetrahydrofuran. The properties of the ternary system were poorly reproduced by combining the information of the parent binary mixtures using empirical rules. They were, however, better described by semi-empirical equations such as the Wang, UNIQUAC, and UNIFAC methods.

Excess molar volumes V E m and excess molar heat capacities C E p,m were determined for mixtures of benzonitrile with chlorobenzene, or benzene, or toluene at the temperatures 298.15 K and 303.15 K. For all the systems the values of V E m were negative over the whole range of compositions and values
