In 79 patients with leprosy a significant increase of anti-extractable nuclear antigen (ENA) antibodies and circulating immune complexes (CIC) was found. No correlation between CIC and anti-ENA antibodies was demonstrable. Since such a correlation is known from antinuclear antibodies and CIC in pati

β¦ Synopsis
Using a sensitive and modified solid-phase radioimmunoassay for detecting anti-cardiolipin antibodies, sera of 45 patients with lepromatous leprosy were examined. Nine of the 45 (20%) showed positive levels of anti-cardiolipin antibodies. Inhibition tests revealed that these antibodies significantly cross-reacted with double-stranded (ds) DNA, but not with singlestranded (ss) DNA or extractable nuclear antigens (ENA). We describe the unique pattern of antibody cross-reactivity with cardiolipin and dsDNA in sera of patients with lepromatous leprosy.

We evaluated the immunoreactivity of recombinant Treponema pallidum (r-Tp) antigens with human sera by indirect enzymelinked immunoabsorbant assay (ELISA). We expressed antigens with a molecular weight (MW) of 17KDa, 15KDa, 47KDa, and 42KDa, which are believed to be major immunoreactive membrane pro
## Objective. The implied role of retroviruses in the pathogenesis of murine systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) led us to study antiretroviral antibodies in a population-based SLE cohort. Methods. Immunoassays using whole virus and synthetic peptides were performed on sera from 72 patients with SL
Two common cross-reacting anti-DNA antibody idiotypes designated 1616 and 32/15, previously identified in the serum of patients who have systemic lupus erythematosus, were found in 24% and 7%, respectively, of 147 first-degree relatives. These findings imply that high-frequency germ-line genes exist
McLean ## Cross-reactivity of IgG anti-DNA-secreting B cells in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus This study is the first to analyze the cross-reactivity of in vivo activated B cells from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. A chamber ELIspot assay was used to determine whether ly
