## Abstract In this paper we present a small dual‐frequency printed antenna based on a square shorted‐patch configuration with an embedded slot to generate the second resonant frequency. The antenna resonance is at 1.58 and 2.6 GHz with 10‐dB return‐loss bandwidths of 1.3% and 3.3% for the lower an

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A single‐feed shorted triangular patch antenna that can be operated at two different frequency bands is proposed and studied. The radiation patterns at the two operating frequencies are similar to those of a normal triangular patch antenna operated at its TM~11~ and TM~21~ modes, which are a monopolelike conical pattern and a broadside pattern, respectively. In addition, the impedance bandwidth, referring to the 10‐dB return loss, is 18% at the lower operating frequency and 9.4% at the high operating frequency. Details of the antenna designs and the obtained results are presented. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract The compact designs of a shorted triangular patch antenna embedded with a V slot are proposed and studied. A broadband V‐slotted triangular patch antenna with one shorting wall is initially constructed as a reference. By inserting an additional shorting wall to this reference antenna, a
A no¨el design of an L-shaped patch antenna for dualfrequency operation is proposed. The proposed antenna is obtained by bending a planar rectangular patch into an L-shaped patch, which is then placed on a grounded substrate, with the patch's horizontal portion parallel to and abo¨e the substrate an
