## Abstract In this paper we present a small dual‐frequency printed antenna based on a square shorted‐patch configuration with an embedded slot to generate the second resonant frequency. The antenna resonance is at 1.58 and 2.6 GHz with 10‐dB return‐loss bandwidths of 1.3% and 3.3% for the lower an

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
This article presents a compact shorted patch antenna. The antenna is based on an F‐shaped printed conductor coaxially fed with an electromagnetically coupled shorted inverted F‐shaped antenna interleaved with each other. The overall antenna is then coupled with a rectangular ring. The antenna has dual characteristic features and its resonance frequency is at 1.85 and 2.42 GHz. The measured return loss bandwidth and its far field radiation patterns are presented. The gain of the antenna is 1.6 dBi. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A no¨el design of an L-shaped patch antenna for dualfrequency operation is proposed. The proposed antenna is obtained by bending a planar rectangular patch into an L-shaped patch, which is then placed on a grounded substrate, with the patch's horizontal portion parallel to and abo¨e the substrate an

## Abstract A novel shorted patch antenna with a shorted parasitic patch for dual‐band operation is proposed. The upper and lower operating frequencies are, respectively, controlled by the driven and parasitic patches, which are both operated as a quarter‐wavelength structure in the proposed design
