✦ Synopsis
Abstract
In this paper we present a small dual‐frequency printed antenna based on a square shorted‐patch configuration with an embedded slot to generate the second resonant frequency. The antenna resonance is at 1.58 and 2.6 GHz with 10‐dB return‐loss bandwidths of 1.3% and 3.3% for the lower and higher resonances, respectively. The overall dimensions of the antenna are 0.105λ~0~ × 0.105λ~0~ × 0.05λ~0~ and it is simple to construct. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract We present a patch antenna that is small in area as a result of combining two size‐reduction procedures: using a single shorting pin and perforating the patch conductor. The new printed antenna is 30% smaller in area than a conventional shorted (single‐post) patch and 93% smaller than a
## Abstract A novel shorted patch antenna with a shorted parasitic patch for dual‐band operation is proposed. The upper and lower operating frequencies are, respectively, controlled by the driven and parasitic patches, which are both operated as a quarter‐wavelength structure in the proposed design
