β¦ Synopsis
Resonanceenhanced
multiphoton ionization (REMPI) of nitric oxide has been investigated at high resolution_ A number of doubl) -enhanced transitions have been assigned and their transition frequencies measured. The enhancing states are the A ?'s state and high-lying Rydberg states between 65000 and 67000 cm-' _ m energy. Two-photon transition strengths for the A 'S-X *n states were calculated and compared with the high-resolution RLSlPl spectra.

We report the discovery of high-lying, very-lung-lived Rydberg states in NO. With that we were able to determine the ionization potential of NO to be 74721.7 & 0.4 cm-'. The existence ofthese States explains a discrepancy between the values for the ionizatlon energy of NO from "zero kinetic energy p
The production of zinc atoms in multiphoton dissociation of zinc dialkyls is probed via the resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization technique. Asymmetric power-dependent broadening of resonant line profiles is observed. The dependence of resonant zinc ion yield is analyzed as a function of wavelen
The multiphoton-ionization spectroscopy of NH3 hasbeen explored using three-photon ionization through a two-photon resonant intermediate state. This method provides seatly inaeased sensitivity when compared to three-photon es&&on to the intermediate state.
