✦ Synopsis
The geometry around the Sn atom of the title compound, [Sn(C 6 H 5 ) 2 Cl 2 (C 2 H 6 OS) 2 ], is distorted octahedral, with Sn-C and Sn-O distances lying in the ranges 2.139 (4)-2.156 (4) and 2.270 (2)-2.279 (2) A ˚, respectively. Molecules are linked by intermolecular C-HÁ Á ÁO and C-HÁ Á ÁCl hydrogen bonds, and by C-HÁ Á Á interactions with distances of 2.8 and 2.75 A ˚.

The Sn atom of the title compound, [Sn(C~6~H~5~)~2~(C~12~H~12~ClNO~3~)], is in a distorted SnNC~2~O~2~ trigonal–bipyramidal geometry and forms five- and six-membered chelate rings with the tridentate ligand. One phenyl group is disordered over two positions with occupancy factors 0.58 (3):0.42 (3).
The title compound, [CuCl 2 (C 12 was obtained by the reaction of 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione (phendione) and CuCl 2 Á2H 2 O. The copper(II) ion is pentacoordinated in a distorted squarepyramidal environment. The water molecule connects the complex and a dimethyl sulfoxide solvent molecule by O-H
