From genetic studies on two ~-amylase forms (Sdl and Sd2) observed in barley malts it is concluded that the Sd I and Sd2 phenotypes are controlled by a pair of alleles acting without dominance. Gene dosage effects typical of characters determined by the endosperm were observed in F1 hybrids. Prelimi
