✦ Synopsis

The standard molar Gibbs energy of formation of CaZrO 3 from CaO and ZrO 2 has been determined by the e.m.f. measurements of a galvanic cell with calcium-ion conducting solid-state electrolyte in the temperature range 1073 K to 1273 K. The average values of the standard enthalpy and the standard entropy in the temperature range covered by the e.m.f. measurements have also been estimated. The results have been compared with those obtained by other authors.

By the use of a solid electrolyte: Ca-b0-alumina, conducting Ca 2+ ions, the CaO activities in {xCaO + (1-x)ZrO2} at the temperature 1270 K have been determined. The cubic solid solutions CaO in ZrO2 formed in this mixture in the composition range x=0.11 to 0.16 exhibit negative deviations from Raou
