✦ Synopsis

By the use of a solid electrolyte: Ca-b0-alumina, conducting Ca 2+ ions, the CaO activities in {xCaO + (1-x)ZrO2} at the temperature 1270 K have been determined. The cubic solid solutions CaO in ZrO2 formed in this mixture in the composition range x=0.11 to 0.16 exhibit negative deviations from Raoult's law. They were found to behave as regular solutions.

The activities of CaO and CoO in {xCaO + (1x)CoO} have been determined in the temperature range T = 1173 K to T = 1373 K by solid-electrolyte galvanic cells. The solubility limits of CaO in CoO and CoO in CaO have been estimated. The solutions deviate strongly from ideal behaviour.
