Haptens bearing phosphorane and c~-hydroxyphosphinate structures have been designed and synthesized for the selection of monoclonal antibodies with phosphatase like activity in order to detoxify highly toxic organophosphorus chemical weapons such as VX.

## Abstract A variety of (het)aryl aldoximes, (het)arylamidoximes and hydroxamic acids, e.g. (I), is tested as nucleophilic agent for the hydrolysis of phenylphosphonothioate (PhX), a member of a class of organophosphorus used as chemical warfare agents.
