✦ Synopsis

In this letter, a new design for a planar antenna is introduced. The antenna is built using coplanar technology. It has dual-frequency operation: the first and second resonances are in the Xand Ku-bands, respecti¨ely. The proposed antenna has wideband be-ha¨ior around both resonance frequencies. It has a dipole-like radiation pattern, which makes it suitable for phased-array applications. The analysis is carried out both theoretically and experimentally, and ¨ery good agreement is obser¨ed. The results include the return loss, the current distribution, the radiation patterns, and the antenna gain.

## Abstract In this paper, a compact coplanar waveguide‐fed slot antenna that can operate over an octaveband (1.75–3.7 GHz) is presented. The novelty of this antenna is the wideband operation with the radial stub loading. The front‐to‐back ratio of the antenna with a back plate is better than 25dB
