โฆ Synopsis
The steam-distilled essential oil of Solidago grarninifolia (L.) Salisb. was investigated by GC, GC-MS and NMR spectroscopy. About eighty components were identified. The main constituents are sabinene (l8%), f3-pinene (lo?'") and P-phellandrcne (23%). Two new compounds, 3-0x0-p-menth-1-en-7-al and 8,9-oxidocadalene, were isolated and characterized by 'H-and I3C-NMR spectra.

Essential oils were obtained by hydrodistillation of leaves, inflorescences and fruits of Vitex ugnus-castus L. (Verbenaceae). Yields ranged from 0.8 to 1.8% on dry weight basis. Eighty-five compounds were identified by GC-MS. The ratio of hydrocarbon : oxygen-containing components was nearly 1:l. 1
The leaf oils of Baeckea frutescens L., water-distilled from samples obtained from four dierent sites, were analysed by capillary GC and GCยฑMS. The oils were found to possess some compositional dierences and considerable variation in the levels of each component, suggesting the existence of chemical
