β¦ Synopsis
Structures of Cu(I1) complexes of pyridoxal Schiff bases with poly(L-lysine), poly(L-ornithine), and poly(L-a,?-diaminobutyric acid) were investigated by absorption spectra, CD, and conformational analysis.
Although the polypeptides retain their typical right-handed a-helical conformation, opposite Cotton effects were found for the poly(L-lysine) and poly(L-ornithine) polycomplexes in the whole range of wavelengths from 600 to 250 nm. As in the analogous derivatives of salicylaldehyde, this effect seems to be due to a stereospecific binding of the square planar Cu(I1)bis-pyridoxylideneimine group to the a-helical matrix. Circular dichroism spectrum of poly(L-a,?-diaminobutyric acid) polycomplex is similar to that found for poly(L-lysine) derivative, but indicates larger tetrahedral distortion of the square-planar coordination of copper ion.

We determined the apparent equilibrium constant of formation, KpH, of the Schijf bases of pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP) and poly-and copolymers containing L-lysine, as a function of pH at 25" and a constant ionic strength of 0 . 1 ~. The KPH values obtained at acidic and neutral pH were larger that t
We studied the stability of the Schiff bases formed between pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP) and leucine in the presence of (hexadecy1)trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) over a wide pH range by determining the kinetic constants of formation and hydrolysis of these compounds. The results show that the stab
## Abstract Four new mononuclear metal complexes with a mononucleating Schiff base ligand containing two thiadiazoles units have been synthesized. The ligand and metal complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, ^1^H, and ^13^C NMR, UVβvis, ESR, electrospray ionization mass spectra, and
Copper (II) complex of Schiff base derived from salicylaldehyde-serine has been studied by polarographic method of analysis at 30" and at constant ionic strength in aqueous medium. The plots of i,, vs dh and id vs C were linear and passed through the origin, showing that the reduction process was di
