✦ Synopsis

Claire thought the job she applied for to help out her family was in a cafΓ©. Too late, she discovers that she has been tricked into working in a saloon. Randall Gorman is mean and isn’t afraid to let Claire and the other girls feel his wrath. Claire is sure that Gorman is cheating his employees.

When she confronts him, things turn nasty and Claire just manages to escape. She flees, getting on the first stagecoach out of town. But before she reaches her destination, a tragic accident occurs, leaving Claire alive but with no memory of her past life.

Thomas is awaiting the arrival of the stagecoach with Suzanne his mail order bride on it. When bad weather delays the arrival of the stage, he goes looking for it. He finds a battered unconscious woman inside the stagecoach and brings her back to Prairie Meadow.

In the ensuing weeks, he learns that his bride has perished in the accident, but finds himself falling in love with Claire. But she struggles with nightmares and is haunted by flashbacks of memories from her past. Those bruises on her neck and that wad of money she had tucked in her dress when she was found are questions that she can’t answer. She wonders whether Thomas has offered to marry her because he feels sorry for her.

The unexpected appearance of a stranger in Thomas’ store jolts Claire and may have serious consequences.
