β¦ Synopsis
Ever since Annie Sampsonβs mama died, her daddy has been out of control, losing his job, and drinking and gambling everything away. Now he has arranged for Annie to marry the man he owes money to, in order to pay off his gambling debts.
But Annie has had enough. She has secretly been writing to a man who has asked her to become his bride. When her daddy discovers that Annie is planning to become a mail order bride he is furious. She narrowly escapes and makes her way to the train station.
Jed Nickels had arranged for Annie Sampson to move to Prairie Meadow to be his wife. But a tragedy has occurred which has left Jed devastated and caused him to change his mind about getting married. He is stunned when he finds out that Annie did not receive the letter telling her he changed his mind and has arrived on the train.
Annie is devastated when she finds out that Jed no longer wants to marry her, but since she has nowhere else to go, she decides to stay on in Prairie Meadow anyway. Jed is not happy with her decision and offers to buy her a train ticket to anywhere else, upsetting Annie all the more.
Despite their best efforts to avoid each other, circumstances conspire to throw the two together, whether they like it or not.
