✦ Synopsis
In the title compound, [Ca(C~8~H~5~O~3~)~2~(H~2~O)~2~]~n~, the Ca^II^ atom (site symmetry 2) is eight-coordinated by two bidentate 2-formylbenzoate ligands, two monodentate formylbenzoate ligands and two terminal water molecules. The bridging ligands result in a one-dimensional coordination polymer. A network of O—H...O hydrogen bonds links the polymeric chains.

In the title complex, [Cd 3 (C 7 H 5 O 2 ) 6 (C 4 H 4 N) 2 ] n , the benzoate groups adopt 3 and 2 coordination modes to connect neighbouring cadmium(II) ions into one-dimensional chains. One of the Cd atoms lies on a crystallographic twofold axis.
The Ca atom in the title compound, {[Ca(HO 2 CC 6 H 4 OCH 2 -CO 2 ) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ]Á2H 2 O} n , is eight-coordinate. The HO 2 CC 6 H 4 -OCH 2 CO 2 À monoanion binds in a chelating mode; it also functions as a bridge, linking adjacent Ca atoms into a zigzag chain. Hydrogen bonds link the chains into a
