✦ Synopsis

In the title compound, [Co(NCS)~2~(C~10~H~9~N~3~)], a Co^II^ atom with tetrahedral coordination is bound by two N-donor thiocyanate anions and two N-donor atoms from two crystallographically distinct di-4-pyridylamine (dpa) ligands whose central NH units lie on twofold axes. The dpa ligands link the Co atoms into one-dimensional [Co(NCS)~2~(dpa)]~n~ coordination polymer chains that propagate along the b-axis direction.

Reaction of Co(NCS) 2 and 2-aminobenzonitrile (ABN) produces the title one-dimensional polymer, [Co(NCS) 2 -(ABN) 2 ] n , where ABN is 2-aminobenzonitrile (C 7 H 6 N 2 ). Octahedrally coordinated Co II ions are bridged by the ABN molecules, which are coordinated to the central metal via the N donors
