Recent reports have documented human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) as a cause of high fever, bone marrow depression, and rash in liver transplant recipients in the absence of another known pathogen. We describe a 49-year-old liver transplant recipient who developed confusion, occipital headache, and involun

Abstract
Whereas human herpesvirus 6 (HHVβ6) reactivation is frequent in solid organ transplant recipients, symptomatic disease is rare. A case of colitis associated with HHVβ6B reactivation was observed in a lung transplant recipient. This case report suggests that symptomatic HHVβ6 infection may occur in the absence of detectable viremia. J. Med. Virol. 80:1804β1807, 2008. Β© 2008 WileyβLiss, Inc.

## Abstract Previous studies have suggested a neuroinvasive and neuropersistent potential of human herpesvirus 7 (HHVβ7). In this report, a case of fatal encephalitis is described and its association with HHVβ7 infection is discussed. An 8βyearβold girl received a peripheral blood stem cell transpl
Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) is a common pathogen among children, classically presenting as fever and rash that resolve without specific therapy (exanthem subitum or roseola infantum). Also identified as a pathogen in hematopoietic cell transplant and solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients, it has b
Dapsone, a sulfone antibiotic, has been increasingly used in solid-organ transplant recipients for the primary prevention of Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, especially in patients with documented sulfa allergy. A known side effect of dapsone therapy, however, is methemoglobinemia, a condition leadin
