## Abstract This article describes the radiosynthesis of ^11^C‐labelled S‐adenosylmethionine by an enzymatic process. This methyl donor was prepared by condensation of L‐(methyl‐^11^C) methionine with ATP. The synthesis and purification could be carried out in 20 minutes with a final yield of 80 %.

In the biosynthesis of labeled S-adenosylmethionine and S-adenosylethionine from the corresponding 1"-labeled sulfur amino acids by yeast, some radioimpurity occurred by non-speci@ labeling of the sulfonium compounds. This is explained by partial degradation of methionine and ethionine in the yeast
