Carbonyl compounds are rapidly thioacetalized in near quantitative yields by using anhydrous iron(lII) chloride dispersed on silica gel at room temperature. The conversion of carbonyl compounds to the cyclic dithioacetals constitutes an important part of many organic synthetic transformationsi. Di

✦ Synopsis
The activity and efficiency of anhydrous CeCI 3 depend strongly on the drying procedure. Deactivation of CeCl 3 occurs during the drying process as a result of hydrolysis by the hydrate water, when heating above 90oc. The highly active CeCI3, prepared by an improved drying procedure, is demonstrated to activate rapidly (in catalytic and stoichiometric amounts) ketones at room temperature, providing excellent addition of organometallic reagents.

Freeze-drying using a partial load is a common occurrence during the early manufacturing stages when insufficient amounts of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) are available. In such cases, the immediate production needs are met by performing lyophilization with less than a full freeze dryer loa
## Abstract A novel and green approach has been described for the synthesis of 2,3‐dihydro‐1__H__‐1,5‐benzodiazepines from __o__‐phenylenediamines and ketones using cerium(III) chloride/sodium iodide supported on silica gel under mild and heterogeneous conditions. The reactions are carried out at r
